Privacy

Short version: this site collects almost nothing, and we'd like to keep it that way.

Analytics & cookies

This site currently runs no analytics and sets no cookies. If that ever changes, it will be a privacy-respecting counter (no cookies, no personal data, aggregate page counts only) — and this page will say so.

Embedded video

Where the site embeds a video from YouTube, nothing is loaded from YouTube — and no request of any kind is made to them — until you click play. Embeds then load through YouTube's reduced-tracking domain (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube's own privacy policy applies from the moment you press play.

Contact

If you email us, we have your email — that's it, and we use it to reply. The newsletter signup ("Follow the Stories," in the footer and at /contact) isn't live yet; once it is, it will send only your email address to whichever provider we've picked, solely so we can send you new dispatches. Nothing else is collected, and you can unsubscribe anytime.

Hosting

This site is a static site served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (IP addresses, requested pages) to operate the service — see GitHub's privacy statement for how they handle those.

Our publishing tool

We publish our own photography and film to our own social channels (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and similar) using a small self-hosted tool that runs on our own computer. The platforms require us to say how that tool handles data, so: it stores the login tokens for our own accounts locally, sends each post's content only to the platform it's being published to, and collects no information about anyone else — no audience data, no follower data, nothing. It has no users besides us, and we can revoke its access at any time from each platform's settings. When a platform's API requires media to be fetched from a public link, the file for that post is briefly hosted at a public URL and can be removed after publishing.

Your data, your call

You can ask what we hold about you (for most people: at most an email thread), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will, unless a legal obligation requires keeping it.
